During the weaning period: The child can have stomach and bowel can get upset during the weaning period. So a mother should take proper care of her child during this time. The bowels are affected when the weaning takes place all of a sudden. This may also occur when weaning is affected early. Over feeding and use of unsuitable and improper food can also lead to bowel upset. However there is yet another cause which can lead to diarrhea during this period and that is dentition. The stomach and bowel are affected adversely when the mother's milk is replaced by artificial food. The delicate organs of the infant are not able to bear this change and this leads to serious problems.Weaning a delicate child at six months can lead to stomach and bowel upset. A mother should not wean at this time until it becomes extremely essential. She has to however wean if she becomes pregnant during this time or due to any other unavoidable reason.
Child can have severe bowel and stomach upset if breast feeding is stopped at once. Giving the child artificial food can cause great problems however safe the food may be. Weaning should thus take place properly and for that there are some regulations that need to be followed. The child is bound to have stomach problems if too much of food is given or if the food is given at frequent intervals. The stomach will become wearied, deranged and oppressed. The child may vomit throwing a part of the food. The rest of the undigested food will pass into the bowels. The food will irritate the sensitive lining of the bowel and this will lead to flatulence with purging and gripping. Convulsions may also be present. The same affects will also be exerted by unsuitable and improper food. The remedial measures should take place quickly or else this problem will have no solution. The disease can worsen further if the cause is not removed. A mother should thus know about the type of food that suits her child before she stops breast feeding and starts giving artificial food to the child. This is important for the child's health. She should also know the exact amount which is to be given. The child should be fed according to the prescription. A prescription is very important and the right food for the child should not be decided just like that. There have been cases when the child's health has been badly affected due to injudicious dietetic management. Over feeding and wrong food articles can also affect the child. They make the parents anxious, and can even endanger the life of the child. Difficult teething can also lead to diarrhea during the weaning period. However it can also occur outside the weaning period. This is actually a good sign (if the diarrhea occurs due to dentition) and should not be interfered with. However medical intervention becomes necessary when the diarrhea gets aggravated and severe. Mild diarrhea may result from cutting of the tooth and this can be found out by looking at the inflamed gums. This diarrhea doesn't cause much damage. However it should not be confused with any other disease. The bowel complaint will resolve once the gum in lanced.
