The very words "Child Care" can create a wealth of emotion when the subject is raised. Caring for a child is one of the most important things which is very hard to do. Taking proper care of a child can mean the difference in development that you should start from early. You should not think that daycare is too long, if you will start from six months earlier. There are thousands upon thousands of words have been written on the subject of child care and today, in fact child care itself has grown into a huge industry. However there are many things that you need to think about first. Childcare should closer to home or work. There are also many child care centers that are most likely to be accredited. In fat these centers also have to meet state guidelines. But there are some home providers who are not always required to meet certain state guidelines to their children "at home".
However this requires to research by you. You need to ask other parents about what they feel and what they think. In fact the best policy is "word of mouth" because there is nothing better than word of mouth. You should check references given to you by the providers. Try to ensure about which types of references that are they going to give you, is it bad or good? You need to talk to that parent who goes to that provider for their kids. Even ensure who are going to take their children to that child centers. In fact you should be specific. You should ask them why they did or didn’t rather you should not put question like if they liked it. You can also go to your local child care resources nearby or any referral center. They will provide you sufficient guidelines on childcare. You may ask them what the requirements are for licensing. They will provide you a record of complaints and violations. After the lists of the providers you have to ask a lot of questions. Even you can do this by phone conversion also. But it will better to get a feel of the center if you will present there. You should know the child to adult ratios that the care givers need to follow when you will visit there, in fact there are more children than providers that are required by law. Even you should consider about their group size. There is a group of 25 two year olds with five adults and a group of 10 two year olds with 2 adults. However these groups are within the proper child to adult ratio. Make sure that there should be smoke detectors, more than one exit, fire extinguishers, and outlet covers. You should look all these things to check at the child care resource center or at any referral program. Even you should be sure about the qualifications of those care givers. Go for inquire about training and education there. You should be aware of some fact like they know first aid and do they educate themselves by going to workshops etc. Even you need to try to see if there is a high turnover rate. You don't want them going through more than one caregiver a year because child needs consistency. However you also have to ensure about the accreditations of that center because the centers have to meet certain state guidelines. Did they voluntarily go above and beyond that and get nationally accredited? Even you should not forget to do the "kid test". To see their reaction you need to bring your child in front to the providers. There should be a good relationship with your child and the providers and with the other children. Even don’t forget to look the reactions of your child also. Lastly trust your gut.
