The return of monthly periods while the child is still breast feeding also upsets the child's stomach and bowel. The child will become unwell even before the mother. The child will become uneasy. The child can have frequent watery stools which are greenish in color. The child's stomach can also throw up milk. The milk will stop to purge when this period is over. However it is only initially that the child gets affected. The milk will obviously remain less nutritious and amount but the child will not have much of an affect after the third or fourth month. The question which arises is that should a mother stop breast feeding after her monthly period returns?

The mother should not stop breast feeding because of this reason until and unless the child is adversely affected by it. She can feed the child using artificial food during her period days and rest of the days she can breast feed. This way the health of the child will be maintained. A wet nurse should be taken when the child is not keeping well. Partial feeding can be necessary at earlier periods also.

The milk can become less in quantity and nutrition if the mother becomes pregnant again.  However in such a situation, it's not the child whose health will be affected. The mother will be affected adversely due to this pregnancy especially when she is still breast feeding the first child. However this will ultimately affect the child again. So in case a woman has another pregnancy during this period, she should stop breast feeding and give the child a suitable artificial diet.

A child who is always on breast feeding can have many problems like flatulence, vomiting, looseness of the bowels and griping. There should be a proper interval between meals and these problems occur when there is no such interval. The milk passes into the stomach without being digested and this give rise to all the symptoms. A proper time should be thus given so that the milk is digested properly. The stomach should also be given adequate rest. A mother should always remember these basic nursing rules.

The bowel of the infant is also affected by teeth eruption. It prevents a number of such adverse affects. Diarrhea is a common thing to take place during dentition. It should be taken care of properly. A swollen gum is almost always associated with it. The free lancing of which will can alone put a stop to the looseness. However medical aid may become necessary later on.
